In the near future around the American Midwest, Cooper, an ex-science engineer and pilot, is tied to his farming land with his daughter Murph and son Tom. As devastating sandstorms ravage Earth's crops, the people of Earth realize their life here is coming to an end as food begins to run out. Eventually stumbling upon a N.A.S.A. base near Cooper's home, he is asked to go on a daring mission with a few other scientists into a wormhole because of Cooper's scientific intellect and ability to pilot aircraft unlike the other crew members. Basically, this film was a cross between 2001 a space odyssey and gravity. There wasn't that much to it. The one saving grace was Nolan's inspired depiction of a 5 dimensional space. Very neat. Shame about the flimsy plot, dodgy character development and poor script. Oh yes, and the clunky ridiculous robots were fun.
All in all, a waste of money. Nolan should have made a much simpler film, something foreign and arty, to stick his cool 5 dimensional bookshelf into. The rest of the cash he spent on this would probably have done some good somewhere, but such is life. Silly spoiled directors and their silly spoiled foolish vanity trips.

I always knew that if you jump into a black hole, you land in a fu* ing 5-dimensional library. Once in a while there comes a movie which makes you want to sit with rapt attention,soak in each and every frame,mull over the dialogs,re-visit scenes merely to admire the sheer pulchritude of its essence. Interstellar is one such movie and Christopher Nolan does not disappoint with his latest venture. Right from the first frame, the movie captures the imagination of the viewer with its sheer brilliance and though the central theme has some heavy duty quantum mechanics the movie progresses without being didactic or dragging.
The story revolves around the uncertain future of humanity in an undisclosed time-frame in future and yet it presents some poignant questions which are relevant in our present day scenario as well. Being a sci-fi film though graphics are expected,it does not get self-absorbed nor boorish with unwanted CGI. And yet its imagery is bang-on in the space scenes and Nolan ups the ante here for future movie makers. Every dialog, nuance, emotion in the movie has closure and herein lies the strength of the movie. The cast ensemble does complete justice to the story and ultimately it is the human element(with some help from some TARS) in this story which carries the movie on its shoulder. A must-watch for sci-fi buffs and real movie lovers.
